Converting Single Windchill Server to a Cluster Configuration
Curious if anyone has changed from the single server to cluster configuration. Are there specific steps and do you use a load balancer? Thanks in advance!
Dimension display (@D and @S)
It does not appear that you can show an @S (symbol) in one place and then an @D in another place on the same drawing.
I have a family table of a part and I am creating a table showing all of the varied dimensions for the family table. I want to show the @S for the generic in the header of the table and then the @D for all of the instances. When I flip one and then do a re-gen however it changes the others.
I called PTC and they suggested I write a relation to copy the dimension value into another parameter and then call that out in the table (ie Table_A = A). Doing that prevents me from showing the tolerances though. Unfortunately it looks like you can't call out the dimension tolerance variable (ie tp0 and tm0) on a drawing like you can a dimension (&tp0 doesn't work).
Lathe boring bar retract
All,
Every time I do an internal area turning sequence with a boring bar on our lathe it never retracts out of the bore to a clearance plane in the Z direction. And we have to customize and rely on our post processor to make sure the boring bar pulls out of the hole completely before it does a tool change. The boring bar will go to where it started in the X direction but not the Z direction.
Does anyone know of a tool parameter, config option, or anything else that we can change to make the boring bar retract in the Z direction?
Anything helps.
Thank you,
Brian

Comments comparing creo 3 to creo elements / pro 5.0...
Likes:
1. I like that the option for shading with lines (like SW) exists.
2. I like some of the new sketcher options (new fillet types, etc.).
3. I like that you can get "references" by RMB, but I'm still trying to get used to that and wish for an actual button (unless I'm missing it).
4. I like the new sectioning tools (like SW).
Hates:
1. Hate the measuring too and it's functionality. Where is my ability to measure NOT to the center axis of something but the surface instead???
2. Think the file tab could use work, why are the model properties under "Prepare File" rather than the logical location of "Manage File"? Makes ZERO sense.
3. HATE that even though you CAN embed a sketched (planar) trajectory curve in a sweep feature, you CANNOT modify it internally in the feature. you must go out, open the sweep feature, and redefine the sketch as a feature. Seems like that feature is pushing us towards the "external sketches for everything " SW mentality....which is one major reason I don't like SW. Total BS. Or is there a trick I'm missing so far?
4. TOTALLY hate the system "ASSuming" I want to view the sketcher section a certain way and immediately reorienting it without giving me a chance to correct it, and not giving me the options to easily change it. THAT, is infuriating. I ALWAYS have to re-orient it to see it how I want to. Is there a way to stop that ****?
5. Miss the "enhanced" rendering capability, think the older graphics were a lot better, and are worse now that they went all "SW" on us.
...to be continued......
Please feel free to chime in with corrections, tips, or your own personal rants on this comparison!
Loop in draft
Does any one know how to use the loop option that is present in draft command?

Has anyone else tried running Wildfire 2.0 recently? It seems to be broken!
I am sure that this is a shot in the dark but does anyone else still ever use Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0? If so, is you copy still working? I have a colleague who uses Wildfire 2.0 occasionally for compatibility with old Pro/INTRALINK databases but it seems to no longer work. I have tried running on 3 different workstations but with no luck. The software starts but then freezes at the point where you expect to be able to do a 'File > Open' or similar.
Any suggestions?
Is there a way to display sketcher lines outside of sketcher mode?
Hi All,
I'm using Creo 3 and am unable to find a solution. I am wondering if it is possible to display sketcher lines while outside of sketcher mode when creating a part. Let's say you have a simple cube made from an extrude and you then select a face of that cube to draw on--a line for this example's sake. Once I click okay and exit sketcher mode, the line is not visible unless I hover my cursor directly over it. In my line of work this can sometimes be a major annoyance and I'd like to see sketches outside of sketcher if possible. Is there a way to change this?
Thanks
Can Excel components utilize the R1C1 reference style?
Can Excel components utilize the R1C1 reference style? I currently have a vector of the default Excel column references (basically the alphabet) which I convert to string values, index, and concatenate to create my cell reference. This would be much cleaner if I could simply reference cells with the R1C1 reference style, but this does not seem to work. Is this functionality missing? Is there a plan for it in future Prime versions?

View or sheet specific datum tag attachment - WF5
Hello,
I've run into a bit of an issue when doing a drawing in WF5 that I hope some of you may be able to help with. I can't seem to find an answer in old topics, but I imagine that it has to be out there.
In short, I would like to figure out how to attach a datum tag differently in different drawing views, or at the very least different sheets. For example, when I'm qualifying a datum in a particular view, I would like the datum tag attached to the gtol feature control frame. However, when I attach the tag as such, the datum tag vanishes in all other views where I'd like it to be shown on the datum feature itself.
Thanks for any advice you may provide!

Without checking out: Is it posssible to find out the file size of a specific member revision via CLI or other means?
(For local differences a sandbox view already offers a file size delta compared to the current member revision.)

Creo View - Drawings
When a user checks in a drawing in Windchill, a .plt is created. The view that's created is showing datum planes and coordinate systems and points. Does anyone know how/where to tell Creo View to not show those items?

Is there an option of applying a remote load/force on Creo Simulate?
Hi,
I need to run an analysis for a bicycle crank arm. The model provided is only the crank arm and it doesnt include the pedal platform where the pedal load is being applied by the rider. is there is an option of setting the pedal load as a remote force applied on the hole surface (where the pedal shaft connects)?
Your help will be highly appreciated
