I know that I am asking a question that opens the door to a lot of frustration so please limit to constructive responses.
Every type of PTC software that I have used (ProE/Creo, PDMLink/Windchill, this website), I have noticed a common thread that just doesn't make sense.
- PTC takes forever to fix a known problem.
- When they fix one problem they create others thus somewhat neutralizing the benefit of upgrading.
For years I have written both of these off as simply that the software is complicated, so it must just be really hard to fix...and without breaking something else. However, I have noticed a lot of simple things don't get fixed. This website is a classic example.
Basically, have you noticed this too? Do you think there are legitimate reasons? And what can be done to help PTC change this? Is PTC aware of this? Do you think they are trying to address it at its roots?
More details if you want to keep reading:
There are several problems with this website that have been around for years (broken links, formating, hangs, etc), and no other website has these problems even though they employ the same features. SImple stuff that every other website in the world (that I have used) does well, yet PTC's not only has problems, but they just don't get fixed. This seems to be the same with other PTC software.
I can no longer say that it is just because the software is complicated. Simple things that worked really well, and were intuitive, in ProE, PTC purposefully changed (Simple example, a note leader couldbe lengthened or moved by whether you clicked on the note text or the leader, was changed so now the user must not only know where to click but also must press shift. This is a blatent step backwards by making more steps and more complicated). Creo has lots of these examples where features were either broken, removed, or paralized.
I don't know if this is the right location to put this discussion, so please let me know if there is a better.
